Port Macquarie Police are warning the Hastings community about the use of counterfeit money after three separate cases were reported to authorities.

Police say they are aware of at least one member of the public who is passing counterfeit $50 notes at local businesses in Port Macquarie.
Inspector Mick Aldridge said Police are warning all business owners and retail employees to carefully check $50 notes before accepting them as payment.
“We have been alerted to someone using counterfeit $50 notes in Port Macquarie and are warning business owners and employees to be mindful of this and inspect their notes carefully,” he said.
“The counterfeit notes have blue Chinese characters on the note as well as other noticeable imperfections.”
He said if you discover a counterfeit note, you should immediately report it to Police and retain the $50 note.
“If anyone comes across any counterfeit notes please retain them if possible and immediately call Port Macquarie Police.”
