TEACHERS from across the Mid North Coast were honoured for their dedication and commitment at the 2018 World Teacher’s Day awards in Port Macquarie on October 26.

The awards for excellence acknowledged the work and careers of educators from preschools through universities between Kempsey in the north to Forster in the south.
Organiser, Bron Vickers, president of the Mid North Coast region Australian College of Educators said the annual event is a moment to stop and reflect on the great work our teachers do.
The awards been celebrated for 60 years with the Mid North Coast event honouring teachers for the last 13 years.
“This is one of the only times government teachers can come together and meet alongside independent educators, our Catholic teachers, tertiary teachers and early educators,” Mrs Vickers said.
More than 120 people enjoyed the event under the trees at Little Fish Cafe with special guest Heidi O’Brien of NESA congratulating every awardee for the special role they play in the lives of local children.
The award winners for Port Macquarie-Hastings were: Tacking Point Public School – Jody Bond and Cherry Nelson; Newman Senior Technical College Helen Bagust; University of Newcastle – Bianca Smith and Gunilla Haydon; St Columba Anglican College – Hayley Branch and Tim Kallmier; Columba College Early Learning Centre – Deanna Pollard; Camden Haven High School – Dianne Stevens; St Josephs Regional College – Phillip Shelley and Sonia West; Charles Sturt University – Natalia Bilton, Kym Barry, Samantha Burbidge, Phil Ebbs, Rosemary Black and Prue Gonzelez; Heritage Christian School – Martin Dures and Jo Day; Wauchope High School – Lynne Davison; Wauchope Public School – Lisa Barnett and Richard Thomas; St Agnes Primary – Catherine U’Brien; Hastings Secondary College Westport campus – Heidi Speers, Annie Stanford and Luke Schmitzer; Port Macquarie Public School – Melissa Rosenbaum; Hastings Secondary College Port Macquarie campus – Clare Farmer, Deanna Maurer and Nicole Wells; Westport Public School – Craig Ainsworth and Fleur Eichler; TAFE NSW – Jan Clews; and Lake Cathie Public School – Bernadette Ainsworth.
