Raising more than $23,700 to support research into finding a cure MND, Seth Vagg said the Port Macquarie team were proud of their achievements.
“The second time around it wasn’t any less busy and we were at the back of the pack of who went up the tower first but the sense of achievement was still very much there,” Mr Vagg said.
“The new people on our team did really well but the main thing we are all proud of was the fact we raised the second highest amount for any team in NSW which currently stands at $23,723.
“We are all doing this for our own reasons but after meeting so many people who know someone with MND it really hits home how horrible the disease really is.”
On October 20, the team climbed 1504 stairs with more than 20 kilos on their back while wearing full structural fire fighting gear.
“It was a pretty intense time while climbing but we all had dedicated our climbs to different people who we knew had been personally touched with MND,” he said.
“It was a good way for us to keep going even when it got hard because we knew those living with MND and their families go through something even worse all day everyday.”
After a short break Mr Vagg said the team would begin fundraising for next year.
“We really tried to fundraise for the climb this year and we definitely exceeded expectations but I think after a break we will jump right back in and do it all again for next year.
“MND is a horrible disease and anything we can do to help find a cure we will do.
“We also want to give a huge thanks to everyone in the community who has supported us and made it possible for us to raise as much as we did.
“We couldn’t have done it without you – so thank you from the very bottom of our hearts.”
