The inaugural Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service novelty golf day is on November 2 with one lucky golfer having the chance to win a Toyota Yaris.
The event is at the Port Macquarie Golf Club.
The fundraising effort will go toward the ongoing costs of flying missions to the Mid North Coast.
Community liaison officer Richard McGovern said the service's CEO Richard Jones launched the fundraiser with sponsors Andrew Plowright and Insurance House's Michael Huxley.
"The golf day will feature plenty of fun along with the chance for one golfer to win a hole in one competition with the Toyota Yaris as the prize," Mr McGovern said.
"The day will be a fun light-hearted 12 hole event with novelty holes, while raising much needed funds to help us to continue to fly free 24/7.
"The service is the community's own Rescue Helicopter flying on average five missions to the Mid-North Coast each week."
Mr McGovern said each mission costs around $4000 per hour.
"In one sense we are lucky living on the Mid-North Coast because we are serviced by both our Tamworth and Newcastle medical aircraft.
"But that comes at a cost with most missions costing between $6000 to $12,000 each depending on what the aircraft is required to do for each mission.
"However, since 1975, no one has had to pay to be rescued by the community's own rescue helicopter, thanks to the support of towns and districts we service."
