This year’s National Water Week theme is ‘Water for me, Water for all’, and aims to highlight the importance of clean water in every aspect of our lives, and encourages residents to all think about how they use water on a day-to-day basis.
In the lead-up to summer, National Water Week is a timely reminder for residents all to review their water saving habits, and protect and conserve the region’s precious water resources.
Council director Jeffery Sharp said that water conservation is the responsibility of our whole community.
“Our region’s water storage is in a really strong position, with our dam levels currently hovering around 92 per cent,” said Mr Sharp.
“Coming off the back of a really dry winter, these levels are really pleasing, and shows that our community are doing a great job when it comes to being water-wise.
“From making sure our leaky taps are fixed to planting more water efficient gardens, simple little changes at home and in the workplace can make our local water resources go a lot further.”
To celebrate National Water Week, council’s water ambassador, Whizzy the Water Drop, will be visiting Bangalay Preschool on Thursday, October 25 to talk about the importance of every drop, where our water comes from and to share some easy water saving tips.
“Council is committed to providing our community with quality water, and we have lots of handy hints on our website to learn the best ways to conserve water at home,” added Mr Sharp.
