Each year country sides get together for a modified rules, 10 minute halves tournament. Eight sides competed at Stuart Park on October 18 with a goal of raising as much money as possible for charity – this time for a local family battling cancer.
Andrew Kable, local police officer and coach of the Sealice, said it was an important fundraising day.
"Recently one of our colleagues' wife has been diagnosed with cancer. All the funds raised today will be given to that family to help them through their troubling times," he said.
Money was raised through local sponsors, raffles and donations.
The final was between the Sealice and North Coast Marlins, with the Sealice claiming victory for the second year in a row.
“Rugby Union is always played in the right spirit," Kable said.
"If you want to bring a golden oldies attitude to the game we'll match you, if you want to play a hard footy everyone will play hard footy. It's all about having a good time and hanging out with friends."
Aaron Wilson, one of the organisers and players, said all games were played in good spirit for a good cause.
"At this stage there will be over $3,500 raised but more to come," he said.
"It's comprised of guys from all over NSW. It was great to get together and catch up with everyone. It's an annual thing and gives us a chance to let off steam."
