After more than nine months of civil works, Newport Village is finally ready to unveil the latest stage of it’s gated community, offering residents an unparalleled quality of living.

One of the most impressive additions is the new synthetic bowling green, which will be officially opened by Mayor Peta Pinson during a special ceremony at the Community Open Day on October 27.

The event will get under way at 10am and conclude at 2pm. It will include a morning tea, sausage sizzle and musical performances by talented local musicians The Young Guns.

Sales Associate Pam Jhonston said the Open Day was an opportunity for retirees and those nearing retirement to experience the “Newport Difference” first hand.

“When you come to live with us here at Newport you’re not just buying a home. You’re buying a lifestyle and it’s a pretty nice one at that,” she explained.

Located on a picturesque acreage just five minute from the town centre, the community is set up more like a holiday resort than a retirement village. Residents have access to a large resort style swimming pool, alfresco dining area, a spacious club house, library and gymnasium, as well as a caravan entrance and storage area.

Additionally, the club house is fitted with two large snooker tables and big screen TVs that are connected to Fox Sports, so you’ll never miss a game of footy again. Best of all however, is the strong sense of community.

“We have a very active social club and the great thing is you can be as social as you want to be,” Mrs Jhonson explained.

Newport also has a community bus and plans regular days out to help the older or less mobile members of the community enjoy a better quality of life and stave off the harmful effects of social isolationism. Another important difference is that Newport Village has been specially designed with the financial security of its residents in mind.

Unlike many retirement living options, Newport Village is keenly aware of the importance of keeping fees and charges to a minimum and ensuring its homeowners’ retirement funds are maximised. There is no stamp duty on purchase, no exit fees and all capital gains are retained.

The properties can also be willed to a relative or loved one who may choose to live in the community if they’re eligible. Council and waste removal rates are taken care of in the weekly site fee of just $175 per house, which also pays for maintenance and upkeep of all the facilities and services. Residents who qualify for Government Rental Assistance will pay a significantly reduced fee.
