The Newcastle Jets W-League squad and three Football Mid North Coast select sides will be in action.
Kicking off at 2.30pm, the Jets women’s side, coached by Craig Deans, will play a trial match against a selected squad from the FMNC area coached by Michael Grass.
FMNC chairman Mike Parsons said the fixture would double as another step for Mid North Coast’s reintroduction into the 2019 Women’s Premier League.
“We’ll use it as a part-trial for our Mid North Coast WPL first grade side for next year,” Parsons said.
“This will be a good stepping stone and an opportunity for interested women that want to trial to have a run against some of the country’s best women footballers on the local stage.
“We’re hoping it will bolster the ranks of our junior girls and ladies who play Saturday park football.”
Jets’ coach Deans will use the opportunity to give his squad a good hit out ahead of their W-League season opener on Thursday November 1.
The Jets will be aiming high this campaign after last season’s third place finish, making their first finals appearance in nearly 10 years.
They will take on Melbourne Victory (live on Fox Sports) at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne in round two of the season after beginning their campaign with a bye in round one.
Following the women’s trial, the inaugural clash between FMNC North and FMNC South will take place at 4.30pm.
The first installment of the ‘Coast Clash’ promises to be an entertaining encounter as the best of the zone’s premier league players go head to head.
FMNC South will be chosen from Wallis Lake, Tuncurry Forster Tigers, Taree Wildcats and Camden Haven Redbacks while the northern team will be made up of players players from Macleay Valley Rangers, Kempsey Saints, Port United, Port Saints and Wauchope.
Parsons indicated earlier this year he was keen to make the representative clash a regular event on the zone’s calendar.
He said there is a lack of representative football for players once they leave the junior grades.
Parsons added that there is a possibility Football Mid North Coast could look to organise a representative clash against a neighbouring zone.
Taree Wildcats coach Rod Bartley has also backed the move to play more representative football.
Bartley was co-coach of the Southern side for this year’s match against Newcastle Jets at Port Macquarie.
