The Adventures of Polly Rocket tells the tale of a super-cat who defies expectations, teaching us we are capable of being whomever we want to be.
The lighthearted illustrated children’s book touches on the themes of loyalty, communication and collaboration.
Jennifer will join storytime sessions at Laurieton Library on October 17, Wauchope Library on October 22 and Port Macquarie Library on October 23.
Each storytime session begins at 10.30am.
Jennifer, who grew up in Port Macquarie, has enjoyed reading and writing stories since a young age.
Her love for storytelling was fostered by her mum who spent quality time reading to her.
Now Jennifer reads to her own girls and is dedicated to nurturing a strong love of reading and writing for children.
Jennifer said her main reason for writing for young people was to promote a love of literacy.
“I think children have a natural curiosity and I think books excite and evoke that,” she said.
The Adventures of Polly Rocket is available through Jennifer Calvert’s author website.
Five per cent of the proceeds from each book sold will go to Make-A-Wish Australia.
