But they could now be growing too quickly despite now having seven courts at their disposal.
One of the many benefits of having four more courts ready to be played on is that there was no longer a waiting list for junior players to have a hit.
“There’s no longer a waiting list because before we had about 20-30 kids waiting to join,” Hudson said.
“The new courts enable us to expand our junior program now.
“We are up to about 350 members and across the seven courts we probably couldn’t take too many more.”
The club officially opened the new courts on Friday with representatives from Tennis NSW making the trip north from Sydney.
“We were really thrilled with the dignitaries who came up including those from Tennis NSW, the mayor and local member,” Hudson said.
The event was attended by the chief executive of Tennis NSW Lawrence Robertson and the president of Tennis NSW Wayne Pascoe from Sydney.
Hudson said the presence of Tennis NSW representatives demonstrated the high level of tennis which is available in Kendall.
The Local Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council mayor Peta Pinson were also present.
The project was made possible with a $198,000 grant from the NSW Government along with $28,000 from Tennis NSW and $5,000 from the Holiday Coast Credit Union.
The mini courts will assist with the club’s junior development program which caters for over 100 juniors on Friday afternoons.
