Unit controller with Port Macquarie SES Michael Ward described the theft as "disappointing".
"The theft took place sometime through the night (September 18) from a locked vehicle parked on Cathie Road, Lighthouse Beach," he said.
"While we are yet to complete a full inventory of the vehicle's life saving equipment, we know that a Stihl battery powered chainsaw, a first aid kit in a green backpack and a Makita cordless drill and impact driver have been removed.
"And, until we thoroughly check the vehicle, it is quite likely there is more equipment missing.
"As a voluntary organisation we are really disappointed; it impacts our ability to save lives and protect the community."
Mr Ward said the unit would also have to repair the damage to the vehicle.
He said volunteers would also have to re-stock the vehicle with equipment before sourcing replacement gear.
"This theft really decreases our capability in the short term," he added.
Anyone with information about the theft should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
