The vision for the choir is for it to be a warm, safe and welcoming space for people to explore their own voice, and to revel in the joy that comes from singing together and creating a beautiful sound with many other voices.
All women are welcome, there are no auditions and no experience or vocal prowess is required to join.
The choir will be directed by local singer, choir director and singing teacher Rose Wilson.
Rose believes that everyone can sing, and that many of us have experienced fear, doubt and negativity around our singing voices and our own inherent creativity, which in turn affects our ability to sing freely and joyfully.
“By creating a safe, joyful and supportive space, singing voices can be discovered and reclaimed,” says Rose.
“Singing is good and singing with people is even better.”
The first session of the new choir will be Friday October 19 from 10am to 12 noon, and the choir will meet every Friday during term time.
The first time you come along is free, thereafter it will cost $15 or $13 concession.
The venue is the Innes Lake Community Centre, 166 The Ruins Way, Port Macquarie.
