It’s a question he has regularly been asked for the last two or three years – when will he again pull on the black, white and blue?

The Sharks junior’s admission comes after he signed a 12-month contract extension in mid-August that will keep him at St George Illawarra until the end of 2019.

“It’s still on the radar,” Latimore said of his prospects of playing in Port Macquarie.

“It won’t be for a full season; the goal is to play a game or two within a season and that would be my way of giving back.”

As for a time frame, he couldn’t put one on it.

“All my mates might have hung up their boots by then, but if the body is hanging in there I’m sure I can get Spraguey and a few boys out of retirement in a few years,” the NRL journeyman said.

“The (NRL) dream keeps going and I’ll get to continue playing the game I love, but I’ll be up there at one point.”

Latimore originally signed with the Dragons for their 2018 campaign as little more than a depth signing to help direct some of their younger forwards.

But his consistent performances off the bench have seen him become a regular in coach Paul McGregor’s 17-man squad.

He has played in all but one of the Red V’s matches in a season that has seen them progress to week two of the finals this weekend.

“When I signed I had a chat with Mary and it was to help the young guys coming through,” he said.

“I wasn’t guaranteed to play every week which I was okay with, but I’ve exceeded that.”

Latimore said his relationship with McGregor had made it an easy decision to stay in the red and white.

“We’ve got a pretty open relationship, he’ll tell me what he thinks and I’d consider him a mate,” he said.

“His door is always open, but at the same time he demands that respect as a head coach.

“You have good clarity about what he wants from you each week when you’re playing and that’s something that I might not have had with other coaches.

“That’s why I’m enjoying my footy this year.”

On Saturday night, Latimore and the Dragons will hope to continue their finals run when they clash with South Sydney at ANZ Stadium.

He admitted they are not looking beyond this weekend despite last weekend’s strong performance in Brisbane.

“I don’t think we can look too far past (Souths),” Latimore said.

“A few of them have been getting hit in the media this week as the media does so they’ll be fired up.

“I felt like we were back to what we were doing at the start of the year, playing well as a pack and that allowed our outside boys to do what they do.

“I think we’re a good chance.”
