Benjamin John Black, 32, of Oceanview Terrace, Port Macquarie appeared before Magistrate J Price on Thursday September 6.
Black is accused of murdering Jacob John King at Port Macquarie on May 4, 2018.
The incident allegedly occurred at a premises in the vicinity of Rushcutter Way and Beacon Court.
King, 30, was located by emergency services personnel in a serious condition with critical stab wounds to his body.
The matter was adjourned to the same court on November 8,2018.
Bail was formerly refused and Black remains in custody.
