The September 9 fundraiser, MAD JAZZ, featured St Columba Anglican School Jazz Band, MacKillop College Big Band, Blu Hypothesis and Big Band Theory.
The family-friendly event primarily raised money for a mobile food van to work alongside services such as Orange Sky Laundry.
The mobile food van is Make a Difference’s second project.
The group raised $110,000 to bring an Orange Sky Laundry van to the Mid-North Coast.
The mobile food van will complement the Orange Sky Laundry van and be another service to help the homeless and vulnerable.
The Make a Difference team acknowledges that other organisations provide food for the disadvantaged.
Make a Difference founder Erin Denham said the mobile food van would be able to get to locations where other services might not be able to access, and provide volunteer opportunities for young people.
“We have had an awesome turnout,” said Erin.
“Given the changeable weather, we were a bit worried, but it’s lovely and sunny, and people are having lots of fun.”
Make a Difference has raised $20,000 towards the food van project.
That includes a $2000 donation from Port Macquarie Panthers Rock and Roll Club during Retrofest.
The mobile food van is expected to cost $60,000 including the fit-out.
