Meteorologist with weatherzone Brett Dutschke says light showers will fall across Wednesday and Thursday with about 1 millimetre predicted on both days.

"By Friday, you are likely to see showers becoming a bit thundery too," he said.

"Some of these possible thunderstorms could also have the potential to be intense as well.

"The most likely rainfall for Port Macquarie-Hastings on Friday is about 5mm but there is the potential for more than 10mm with some of those heavier falls.

"You are likely to see the potential for more than 20mm for areas on higher ground."

The low pressure trough associated with Friday's rainfall will move off the coast by Saturday leaving some morning and early afternoon showers before we start to dry out.

Saturday should realise between 2-5mm of rain.

There is likely to be a light shower on Sunday but it will certainly be the dry end of the weekend, Mr Dutschke said.

The meteorologist said cloud cover and light winds will generally keep minimum temperatures relatively mild through to Sunday.

Wednesday's maximum temperature will be 19 degrees with 7 degrees the minimum on Thursday and a maximum of 21 degrees.

Friday's temperature range will be 9 degrees up to a maximum of 23 degrees, which is slightly warmer than the average for this time of the year.

"Friday is likely to be reasonably humid which will contribute to those storms during the day," he added.

Saturday's minimum temperature is 9 degrees with a maximum of 22 degrees while Sunday's minimum is 7 degrees topping out at 21 degrees.

Sunday should be the sunniest day and the driest.

There are no current weather warnings in play for the Port Macquarie-Hastings.
