Spread the word – Huntingdon Public School is turning 150 years old and it’s time to celebrate.
Located at 2876 Oxley Highway, 10 mins west of Wauchope, the school is holding an open day on Saturday September 22 2018 from 10am to 4pm to celebrate its 150-year anniversary.
The school has changed significantly since it opened to its first students way back in 1868
It has flourished, and now consists of three classrooms, an administration block, covered lunch areas, a school hall and fabulous play equipment. And let’s not forget the 53 students who currently get to enjoy the beautiful, small, country school five days a week with their fabulous teachers.
The open day will give everyone a chance to appreciate the changes. There will be school tours, historical photos and school yard games, a delicious assortment of homemade goodies for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea and most importantly, a chance for old friends and classmates to catch up. A short ceremony including cake cutting will be held shortly after lunch.
“We’d love to see as many current and past pupils, families, teachers and members of the school community attend what promises to be a fantastic walk down memory lane,” said principal Peta Harris.
