The principal of Huntingdon Public School, Peta Harris, was contacted earlier this month by a teacher from Crescent Head Public School, asking whether she had a student called Spencer who lived on the Oxley Highway.
“She explained that the reason she was asking was that one of her students, Kobi Howarth from Year 4, was walking along the beach at Crescent Head and found a bottle with a message inside,” said Mrs Harris.
“Spencer Hirst from Year 3 told us that the message was indeed from him, and that he put the bottle in the river here at Huntingdon almost a year ago, to see where it would end up.”
Spencer was then able to meet the recipient of his message, Kobi from Crescent Head, at the Glasshouse in Port Macquarie, at a performance of George’s Marvellous Medicine.
