A man has been charged after allegedly attempting to groom a child on a train travelling north on the mid north coast.

About 10pm on Wednesday, August 15, an 11-year-old boy was on a train travelling between Taree and Kempsey when he was allegedly handed a note by a 42-year-old man who was sitting nearby.
Police will allege in court the note contained sexual references and threats of violence.
As the train left Kempsey Railway Station, it’s further alleged the man attempted to usher the boy into the toilet on the train.
Train guards were notified and police from Mid North Coast Police District attended.
The 42-year-old man was arrested after the train stopped at Macksville Railway Station and taken to Macksville Police Station.
He was charged with procure child under 14 for unlawful sexual activity, procure child abuse material and behave in offensive manner in/near public place.
He was refused bail to appear at Macksville Local Court on August 16.
