The alleged offenders have wearing hoodies and other face coverings to conceal their identity from CCTV cameras when using the stolen cards.
Police are advising all late-night retail outlets, especially 24-hour service stations, to have a CCTV camera located at cash register height and to query customers who attend their store with numerous cards trying to use Paywave to purchase cigarettes.
If the cashier is suspicious, they are urged to report the matter to police.
