It was a frosty start to the day reaching a very brisk four degrees with a slight westerly wind making conditions off shore creating almost perfect surfing conditions.
The longboard divisions took to the water just after dawn where they enjoyed the three-feet of rolling swell which was a pleasant surprise as the swell had been elusive all week.
The championships continued with mini mal followed by the shortboard divisions.
Further up the beach on a separate bank our beginner caddy and beginner caddy optional divisions were battling it out to see who would be crowned the winter champions for 2018.
The surfer girls rode some excellent waves demonstrating some exceptional manoeuvres with wave scores as high as 9 out of 10.
It is safe to say that the future of women’s surfing on the Mid North Coast is alive and well and being nurtured within the Mid North Coast Girls Surfriders Club.
On completion of our competition our winter champions were crowned.
