The screening was at Majestic Cinemas, Port Macquarie.
The film will begin a three week season on Thursday August 23.
While in the area, Mr Stevens, along with his wife Beck, attended a Saturday morning breakfast hosted at the Big Red Bus. Almost 200 people attended that event, despite the cool weather.
Majestic Cinemas CEO Kieren Dell said Friday night included a Q and A session.
"There were about 100 people there for the premiere screening and Jason and Beck also answered questions for about 45 minutes," Mr Dell said.
"The questions covered Jason's football career, his faith and the movie Chasing Comets.
"There was also a lot of interest in his next film too. There was also lots of great feedback about his current film.
People enjoyed the down-to-earth Aussie humour in the film.
