ZANE Sparke will be among a Hastings contingent to tackle the 2018 City2Surf on Sunday, August 12.
Zane, 26, is a Worimi man from Forster who now lives and studies in Port Macquarie.
A Bachelor of Applied Science student at Charles Sturt University, Zane is also a member of the INdigenous Marathon Project (IMP).
Zane is mentored by Charlie Maher, IMP’s first graduate who leads the Port Macquarie IMP Running and Walking (RAW) group.
Charlie, who is a great influence in Zane’s life, is also the first indigenous runner to compete in the TCS New York Marathon. He has since competed in marathons in Boston, Gold Coast, Tokyo and Berlin and is an inspiration and mentor to other indigenous runners.
He will run with Zane on the iconic City2Surf course with the support of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) who have sponsored coaches to bring some of the Deadly Running Group to Sydney for the event.
