THIS time, the winner takes it all.

Hastings Valley and Southern Cross University Marlins are set for an enthralling under-14 grand final at Oxley Oval on Saturday.

The two teams have shared the honours in their two clashes this season with the Vikings claiming a 49-22 win in the last fixture.

Captain Cayden Briscoe will play in his first grand final for the club in just his second year.

He expects the close-knit nature of his team to get them over the line.

“We’ve been at school together for a bit so we know how we all play,” he said.

The under-14s will kick-off a jam-packed grand final day from 9am.

Briscoe hopes the juniors can start the ball rolling for a successful day for the club.

“We want to put everyone on a high at the start of the day,” he said.

“(The key to a victory will be) tackling and getting to the rucks and mauls and then let the backs do their work.”

Most players are nervous ahead of playing in a grand final, but Briscoe was quietly confident his team could get the job done.

“The improvement of all the players throughout the season has been good,” he said.

Kick-off is at 9am.
