The Pies will host the knockout week of the finals for the u/11s, u/13s and youth girls competitions and on the back of this the PMJAFL committee has decided that all profits from the canteen takings on the day will be donated to the farmers ravaged by drought conditions across Australia.
The club will also have a donation box to accept any cash donations on the day.
Club president Andrew Prince said the game of AFL is built around communities working together right across Australia.
“We all have our challenging times,” he said.
“The opportunity to host week one of the North Coast AFL junior finals in Port Macquarie opens the door for the Magpies to think outside their own club and community and give something back to a segment of Australia doing it a lot tougher than most at the moment.”
To top it off, the Magpies are represented in each of the three games on Sunday.
The u/11’s White team and the youth girls team finished third after the home and away season, and their u/13’s team finished fourth.
Our u/11’s Black team were unlucky to finish fifth and miss the finals after a brilliant second half of the season.
Games start at 9:30am at Wayne Richards Park, providing friends, family and Port Macquarie locals the perfect opportunity to cheer on your local AFL juniors in the finals and support our farmers in the process.
