The two sides lead the way in both respective competitions with finals just around the corner.
Middle Rock Mariners and Port Macquarie Spartans are only relatively new clubs and the Mariners’ Marty Dures said the sport continued to grow.
“Some of the more established teams have got some Sydney players who have moved up here that are playing for them,” he said.
Dures said it was good to see female participation in the sport continue to grow.
“The Mariners are made up of some players that haven’t played before and a lot of the ladies are playing baseball in their softball off-season,” he said.
After a few lean seasons, Dures was confident the sport would continue to grow, espcially in the junior numbers.
“We’re looking to reach out to the schools to continue to grow the sport,” he said.
All money raised from last weekend's competition will go directly to the farm relief.
The NSW Baseball Country Championship will be held in Sydney next weekend from August 10-12 at Blue Sox Stadium in Blacktown.
The Hastings will send a strong side to represent the region and are expected to do well.
The Hastings Baseball Association competition resumes on August 19 at 11:30am at Blackbutt Park, Wauchope.
