Tables were filled with handmade items, clothing, accessories and more, all made by kids.
It is the brainchild of library worker Virginia Cox and is the only dedicated children’s markets in the area.
“I was enthusiastic to showcase young peoples artwork. All of these kids are locals and have made their goods themselves,” she said.
“There’s a great variety. I’d love to see this happen again and more often.”
The event has been held before as a trash and treasures market, a Christmas market and now an end of school holidays markets.
Mrs Cox hopes it will continue to be held frequently moving forward.
Kim Porter is the mother of one of the stallholders, Kirra from Kirra’s Creations.
Kirra is the perfect example of a young person with a knack for making anything and everything.
Mrs Porter said a creative outlet like the one held at the library should happen more often.
“I’m just so proud, and very thankful that they have put this on for the children,” she said.
“There’s now a creative outlet for all the talented kids in the area. It’s something that should happen more.
“Even just twice a year, or more events like this in other places, would be great. Port is growing and there are a lot of creative people in this age group and they need an outlet.”
She said her daughter has set up shop at other markets however there are costs involved and they are are not purely for children.
“It would be awesome if the library could put this on more, of if there were some other outdoor events,” she said. “Anything for the kids lets do it, I say.”
