A popular artist among Mid North Coast locals has seen Chris’ star rise over the years, including a record deal with Sony and many gigs around the country.
The power of social media is one he knows to embrace if he is to succeed, including working with professional producers to create stunning videos to go with his songs.
"I've been working very hard. I've done a music video in Lithgow and it features a dancer from the Sydney Dance Academy, which has gained 60 000 views on Facebook,” he said.
“It's all out of my own pocket. In saying that, I'm getting some great help from important people. I'm working with a big name producer who has done some huge songs for artists like Sheppard and Dean Lewis.”
Chris said that these days, a big social media following is needed if an artist is to get signed and get traction on radio.
“That’s why a lot of my focus is going into that side of things,” he said.
“Music videos are huge now, and it's kind of like if you have a great song it's not worth it unless you have a video with it.”
He will launch his latest video, for Electric Air, after the launch of the EP. It was produced by director Jefferton James who has worked with artists like Boy and Bear and Kasey Chambers.
Moving forward, Chris hopes the valued support of his hometown will continue.
"It's been amazing having local support. After living in Sydney for six years I’ve really enjoyed coming home to a tight knit community and having lots of people talk about my music and enjoy coming to my local gigs,” he said.
“I've had a lot of interest, some back and forth with record companies, so if I can build myself up enough online and playing live, I hope I am able to take my career to the next level.”
Chris will speak and perform at Port Macquarie’s Luminosity Youth Summit on July 25 to 27.
