Clear skies, little chance of rain but some cool mornings

Brilliant sunsets: We can look forward to some clear skies over the next few days, but some cool mornings.

With the sunshine comes the cooler mornings.

That's the trade off for the Port Macquarie-Hastings over the next few days, according to meteorologist with weatherzone Tom Hough.

The forecaster said Wednesday should see continued sunny skies with light winds and a maximum temperature of around 19 degrees.

There is a weak inland trough likely to bring a slight chance of a passing shower late on Wednesday but it should be confined to the coastal fringes, he added.

Thursday will kick off with a minimum temperature of 4 degrees before climbing to a stunning 20 degrees. It will be predominately dry throughout the day, with clear skies.

Keep the doona handy for a minimum of just 2 degrees on Friday morning and a maximum reaching 17 degrees during the day.

A high pressure system will remain over much of the state over the next few days bringing with it consistent clear and blue skies.

The winds will continue to be light through to the end of the week and into the weekend.

Fortunately for the school holidaymakers, the weekend appears to be a similar weather pattern.

Mr Hough said we should see plenty of clear skies and sunshine with Saturday's minimum just 3 degrees before climbing to a nice and comfortable 18 degrees.

Sunday will start off with a minimum of 5 degrees before reaching a maximum of 18 to 19 degrees.

Out to sea, the biggest wave heights will be on Wednesday before slowing dropping to 1 metre on Thursday and then to .5 to 1 metre by Friday.

A low pressure system over the Tasman could see an increase the wave heights late Friday and into the weekend.

Mr Hough said the predictions were for around 2 metre waves on Saturday and Sunday.

The average July minimum temperature is 6.6 degrees while the average maximum is 19 degrees.
