It’s time to recognise local carers or organisations supporting carers for the 2018 NSW Carers Awards. Carers are everyday people – family members, friends, neighbours and work colleagues. It is important we send a strong message to carers within our local community that we appreciate all they do.

Nominations close on Friday, August 10. For information about the awards and how to nominate go to careforacarer.nsw.gov.au.

Hidden Treasures

It’s also time to acknowledge rural women volunteers with the 2018 NSW Hidden Treasures Honour Roll. Nominating someone for this honour is a great way to celebrate women and to promote the valuable role of volunteering. The NSW government is proud to support this initiative, by recognising the 1.7 million volunteers in NSW, who give more than 241 million hours of voluntary work to their communities.

To nominate a hidden treasure download a form or complete one online at http://dpi.nsw.gov.au/about-us/rural-support/rural-womens-network/hidden-treasures/hidden-treasures. For information contact the Rural Women’s Network on 6391 3612 or rural.women@dpi.nsw.gov.au. Nominations close on July 30.

Volunteer of the Year

Nominations close this Friday, July 13, for the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards. The awards are organised by the Centre for Volunteering and are the largest formal celebration of volunteering in Australia. Go to volunteering.com.au.

Woman of the Year

You are encouraged to highlight brilliant women in our community with a nomination for the 2019 NSW Women of the Year Awards. The awards recognise women who have demonstrated excellence in business and society or made outstanding contributions, both personally and professionally. Women make outstanding contributionswhile overcoming gender inequity to pursue their personal and professional goals. Nominations close November 11, at women.nsw.gov.au.
