Not only was a win crucial for their season, but it was their sponsors and old boys day, adding extra motivation to perform.
Despite having two forwards sin binned towards the end of the first half, the home team dug deep and used the ball at every opportunity, claiming a big 38-19 win.
Captain Rhys Martin praised his team for stepping up.
"We knew it was our last chance, because if we didn't win it was all over for us," he said.
"We had an opportunity to run with the ball early and stick to some sort of structure. It paid off for us. Our defence in the first ten minutes really set the tone."
Towards the end of the first half the referee marched two Pirates players, leaving the home side with 13 men.
"Despite that, everyone performed," Martin said. "The backs had a job to do and did it. Everyone defended really well in that period."
Through the week the club worked overtime on structure with the ball in hand. It showed.
"We were able to score some points and for once we played the 80 minutes," he said.
"We've been a 40 minute team, but yesterday we stepped it up. It was a great win."
This weekend they play Kempsey at Kempsey. Despite struggling, the home side will have the same motivation the Pirates had on the weekend.
