The communities of Williamtown, Salt Ash and Fullerton Cove are in disbelief and shock over reports from Fairfax over the weekend that 3M, the manufacturer of the chemicals at the centre of the Red Zone disaster, have allegedly been hiring scientists to downplay and remove references to the health effects of the chemicals.

In another humiliating blow for the Australian government its own Expert Panel Report has been further compromised given it cited the research from a key witness for 3M in major US-based litigation against the company.
The communities’ harsh criticisms earlier this month of the Australian government’s so called ‘Expert Report’ into health effects have been vindicated further with Fairfax quoting Harvard University experts who have raised significant concerns about PFAS chemicals.
Professor Grandjean argued that PFAS chemicals pose a “substantial present and potential hazard” to human health, including to immune, thyroid, liver, endocrine, cardiovascular and reproductive functions.
We don’t need any more studies, we don’t need any more reports from a government who is only interested in limiting its liability, we want out. For our kids sake, we need out. Now.
