Works in her latest exhibition, Cut The Ties And Jump, can be seen at Sunset Gallery in Port Macquarie with an opening night planned for Friday, June 22.
Cut the Ties and Jump is an exhibition that reflects Kalina’s current stage in life.
A time in which she is connecting to her inner self, through connecting to the nature that surrounds her.
A focus on living, learning, and transforming in a fulfilling way within natural surroundings. Like a walk inside a forest with no destination. Or a swim between the waves that dance during a storm. A cutting of ties, imagined and real - a jump into the unknown.
As part of the challenge of jumping into the unknown, Kalina depicts her discovery of a new material for her artistic expression and that is, the blue ink calligraphy pen on paper.
Getting out of her comfort zone and getting back to her first written words, she uses this tool for the exhibition.
Literacy and the art of writing was taught with a calligraphy pen in Europe, and this was the way Kalina and her sisters learned how to write.
This exhibition explores the relationship between natural and urban spaces, new perspectives, the real and the surreal.
It provides an insight into a world where everyone understands and respects their natural surroundings, and the people that inhabit these spaces.
In bringing this new exhibition to Australia, Kalina invites a conscious local connection - 50 per cent of the proceeds of all art sales in Australia will be donated to The Nature School Inc. in Port Macquarie.
An organisation whose vision is a world in which all children learn from and within nature.
A small not for profit organisation with a big goal of changing the world of education and challenging the current systems in early childhood and primary schooling.
The Nature School Inc is also an Australian registered charity which relies on thousands of volunteer hours to be the change they want to see in this world.
Kalina’s sister, Sybil, is one of the co-founders of this organisation.
