Raising money for brain cancer research, local Zumba instructor Jodie Sallustio said after brain cancer touched someone close to her she wanted to try and help in any way she could.
“The mother in law of a friend of mine was recently diagnosed with brain cancer and I really wanted to see if I could do something to help,” Ms Sallustio said.
“I am a Zumba instructor and I thought it would be great fun to host a Zumba fund raiser with all the proceeds going to brain cancer research.
“Zumba is a super fun, high impact, dance fitness class and I will have a disco ball going so it will all be a lot of fun.”
Ms Sallustio said the event on Friday, June 22 will be at the Sea Scouts Hall from 5.30pm.
“The class will be $16 per person and all the money raised will go directly to a brain cancer research charity,” she said.
“I want everyone to come in a brain cancer beanie and ready to have a great time.
“Brain cancer is such an awful disease so any money we raise will be going to a great cause to help make a difference.”
She said that you do not have to be a dancing expert to participate and in a darkened room no one should feel self conscious.
“Zumba is such a great thing to do and people from the age of six to 106 can take part in.
“You don’t have to be a dancer or have very good fitness, it is all about coming and letting your body move with the music pumping.”
If you come along and get some photos Ms Sallustio said to use #doitfordotti on social media to keep the momentum going.
