Their winless streak now extends beyond five years after the Bush overcame a slow start to register a comfortable 40-26 victory on Saturday at Lank Bain Sports Complex.
Kendall Blues trio Tom Wigman, Beau Kettle and James Kennedy all crossed as the Bush went on with the job after they led 20-14 at the break.
Bush captain and backrower Blake Reis was a constant threat on the edges and led the way for his side with a man-of-the-match performance.
Reis said some of his side had returned after a week or two off which contributed to their error-riddled start.
“We started pretty slow and got ahead probably 10 minutes before half-time and from there we put a bit of a score on them,” he said.
“We controlled things well in the second-half.”
The Bush captain admitted the Beach benefited from their slow start and almost ambushed his side.
“They definitely came out a bit harder than we were expecting,” he said.
Reis said the annual representative fixture between the two teams gave players an opportunity to build into the season while staking claims for higher representative honours.
“These games are important because it brings teams together and gives you something to work for,” he said.
“Especially some of the younger boys who haven’t been there for long, it makes them want to get a bit better and try a bit harder.
“It’s good for the teams to join together and make a side.”
Kendall’s combinations in the Bush side ensured they were more cohesive than their Beach opponents with the Blues making up almost half (eight) of the 17-man squad.
“We had pretty much a lot of the Kendall backs and the Long Flat and Comboyne forwards,” Reis said.
“It does make it hard structure-wise trying to find out who plays where which makes it hard on the halves.
“It’s a big forward battle originally which gives the backs a bit to work with later on.”
Bush 40 (Beau Kettle 2, Tom Wigman, Jed Seymour, Luke Flanagan, James Kennedy, Blake Reis, Brandan Laws tries, Ethan McKenna four goals) defeated Beach 26 (Will Ramsay 2, Blake Hart, Peter Bula, Jimmy Cutmore tries, Michael Flanders two, Will Ramsay one goal)
