A complex low over the Tasman Sea is directing a vigorous westerly airstream over New South Wales.
Winds are expected to funnel through the coastal valleys in the Hunter, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h.
Winds are expected to strengthen during Sunday (June 17) morning about the Hunter coast, easing in the late evening.
Temperatures on the mid north coast on Sunday morning dropped to chilly zero degrees while daytime temperatures were not expected to reach higher than 17 degrees.
Monday, June 18 is expected to bring very cold conditions with snow possible above 900m and a chance of a thunderstorm near the coast.
Overnight temperatures are expected to dip to as low as 2-6 degrees and winds will be 25-30kmh turning south-west by lunch time Monday.
