Jorga’s application was judged at club, district (NSW & ACT) level and now successfully at Zonta International level.
She is one of 10 international winners announced on Friday.
“The Zonta Club of Port Macquarie and her school are proud of such a wonderful achievement,” Margaret Bateman said.
Zonta International, with world headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, USA, is a leading global organisation of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.
The Young Women in Public Affairs Award is the flagship program for young women aged 16 to 19 years.
The goal of the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognising a young woman’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the empowerment of women.
Applicants were asked to reflect on their voluntary commitment to their school and to their community and the problems limiting the empowerment of women in their own country and worldwide.
The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs Award Program looks at the young women of today as the leaders of tomorrow.
Jorga is currently studying health-related studies at Sydney University.
