The couple will celebrate their anniversary with family and friends.
The Port Macquarie couple married at 6pm on May 25, 1968 in All Saints Church, Parramatta.
Their reception followed at the Kalinda Ballroom in Parramatta while dancing the night away to “I’ll be loving you always” by Patsy Cline.
Their wedding rings even have 'together always' inscribed on them.
They first laid eyes on each other when Maureen was left waiting in the car by a bloke she was going with at the time.
He had gone in to see Ewen and his brother Leon at a house they shared.
As fate would have it, Ewen came outside to see if she was ok and invited her in, she declined, however they have been by each other’s side since that day.
They bought their first piece of land and built their home in Baulkham Hills, Sydney.
Their first son Damien was born in 1976 followed by their second son Haydn in 1978 and their daughter Kerry in 1983.
The family lived in Sydney where Ewen and Maureen worked extremely hard.
At one point, Ewen worked three jobs and Maureen two before they went on to own their small business.
They continued to operate that business up until 2002 when they decided to buy a property and retire in beautiful Lighthouse Beach.
Their family now includes three grandsons, Kyson, 10, Abe, 9, Jake, 6, a granddaughter Siena, 7, and two step grandchildren, Tyler, 10, and Hayley, 8, as well as two lovely daughters-in-law Kylie and Jane and a wonderful son-in-law, Derek.
All of their children and families also live close by in Port Macquarie and Wauchope, said daughter Kerry.
"They have always been so selfless in their actions and their love and devotion not only for each other but their family is a true testament," she said.
"We love you and are truly grateful for the life you’ve given us.
"They have instilled great morals, respect, trust and love. We will eternally be thankful for our family and we hope that you have a wonderful night celebrating with us all.
"Happy 50th anniversary," she said.
