The Biggest Morning Tea is just one of the events in Port Macquarie raising money for the Cancer Council this month, and Friends of Mrs York’s Garden, Di Davison, said the group were happy to be supporting the cause.
“This is the second year we have hosted a Biggest Morning Tea and we think it is such an important cause to get behind because everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer,” Ms Davison said.
“In our group we have members who are or who have been through cancer treatments and if we can help find a cure to cancer then that is something we will absolutely get behind.
“Today we have had a lovely morning raising money and eating cakes and tea and coffee in the garden.”
The morning tea is just another way the group are connecting with the community after celebrating their 50th anniversary on May 12.
“Where our garden is positioned we have had a number of people walking and driving past come and buy a cake or have a cuppa with us, which has been great and all the money is going to the Cancer Council,” she said.
“And it is just so relaxing to be able to sit in the garden overlooking the beach.
“We are very pleased with the day.”
