The Lorne resident and St Columba Anglican School student has an IQ of over 130 and is extremely passionate about science. 

His exceptional academic abilities saw Finn be scouted by ABC for a recent television series called Making Child Prodigies. 

The series provides an intimate look at the day-to-day lives of a five children and their families at a pivotal time in their lives. 

Finn is currently a year four student but he does year eight science alongside older students. 

The series explores Finn’s exceptional ability for taking on knowledge of space and everything to do with science. 

Speaking to the Camden Haven Courier, Finn said in the future he would like to lead the way to help establish a colony on the moon and eventually another on Mars. 

He said he doesn’t want to go into space and would rather oversee the process. 

“I think going into space would be ‘too risky’ for me, as I’m a very risk assessing person,” he said. 

“I would definitely like to help them get there.” 

During the television series Finn designs a rocket, which is then built into a model and launched from his Lorne property. 

“We don’t know how far it went and we thought we’d never see it again because we couldn’t find it,” he said. 

Finn said his neighbour eventually found the rocket on his property.  

Finn has also designed an electric motor and solar panels. He sent the solar panel design to his friend Professor Alan Duffy for feedback.

“I’m trying to raise the efficiency of solar panels to be up around 50 to 60 per cent,” he said. 

Finn met Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and presented him with a draft document for legislation which is called Living Off The Land Act.  

Finn said his act outlines key principles of water harvesting, use of sewerage tanks and growing your own food to help reduce the carbon footprint.  

Describing the experience Finn said it ‘was amazing to meet such an incredible person’ who is the ‘sculpture of our future’. 

The television series highlights some of the social challenges which gifted children can experience. 

His dad Guy said as Finn gets older he’ll be able to find his niche and the socialising process will become easier for him. 

In the meantime Guy said the staff at St Columba Anglican School have been incredibly supportive of Finn and very accommodating.

Guy said he and his wife Leiann are working together to nurture Finn’s ability, as they want him to reach his full potential. 

“It’s a gift he’s been given and we want to help put it to good use,” Guy said.

The Making Child Prodigies series premieres on Tuesday, May 29 at 8pm on ABC and iview.
