He attempted to set the record for Fastest Half Marathon in Highland dress (male) which does not currently have a record holder.

However, several other competitors have attempted the feat in the past two weeks and Mr Robinson must present evidence before he is crowned the record holder.

Famous on the Mid North Coast running scene for his choice of attire, Mr Robinson competed at the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon on May 20, finishing in 1 hour, 48 minutes and 52 seconds.

“There have been attempts in the UK in the last few weeks so I'm not sure if I have it in the bag yet," he said. 

"It may be a few months until I find out. If I have to have another attempt I might try and find a much cooler marathon to race in."

It is no wonder he wants to race somewhere cooler next time, given the outfit includes three layers of upper clothing and a hat, with strict conditions on what he could and could not do.

"Running in the kilt is something I've done for two years, but I had to add the hat and suit and tie to complete the kit. It was hot and heavy."

The rules for the record state the person can not remove any item of clothing - not even undoing a button is allowed – during the 21 kilometre race.

"I was looking up records, found that one and thought it was right up my alley," he said. 

"With my sense of humour I decided to take it on and beat the poms at their own game. I was very happy with the time. My goal was an hour 47 and I wasn't too far off that."
