Now is your chance, with the station throwing open their doors on Saturday, May 19 as part of their annual open day.
Station commander Derek Alford said the open day is a great chance for Port Macquarie locals to come and have a look around the station.
“We are encouraging people to come and have a look around our station on May 19 as part of our open day,” Mr Alford said.
“The public will have the opportunity to talk to our firefighters and have a look in a fire truck as well as get an up close look at some of the equipment we use when we get called out on a job.
“We will also be having some demonstrations and the firefights will be ready to answer any questions people might have.”
Mr Alford said the day was also a great chance for firefighters to talk to the public about smoke alarms heading into winter.
“The open day is a great chance for us to give everyone a reminder on fire safety and with winter approaching we are heading into our busiest part of the year with people using heaters and candles now the weather is colder,” he said.
“Winter is the worst time of year for house fires and it is great chance for us to talk to the whole family about fire safety, especially smoke alarms and action plans.”
Head along to the Port Macquarie Fire Station open day on Saturday, May 19, from 10am -2pm.
The station is located on Central Road in Port Macquarie.
