The awards launch signifies the start of the 2018 Holiday Coast Credit Union Greater Port Macquarie Business Awards campaign, celebrating the hard work of businesses in the area.
Mark Wilson, CEO of the Port Macquarie Chamber of Commerce said the awards are a chance for business to highlight the work they are doing.
“The awards recognise the excellence in business and business practices in the Port Macquarie region and we are giving people the opportunity to promote the successes they have had in their business during the year,” Mr Wilson said.
“It is also a chance for us to talk about all the wonderful services and facilities we have here in Port Macquarie.”
Michael Mowle president of the Port Macquarie Chamber of Commerce said all types of local businesses are encouraged to enter the awards.
“The categories cover a vast range of areas from construction to hospitality and everything in between and within each category we have sections for small and large businesses so we want as many businesses as possible to enter today,” Mr Mowle said.
“The night is a chance for local businesses to showcase their success but also a chance for everybody to come together for a night.”
The awards are now open and will close on June 20, before the Gala Awards Dinner on July 28.
At the awards launch the MC’s of the Gala dinner were announced as actress and comedienne Jean Kittson and local ABC journalist Cameron Marshall.
Regional manager for the NSW Chamber of Commerce Kellon Beard said it was great to see the so many turning out for the launch.
“It is just wonderful to see so many joining up as we officially launch the 12th annual business awards in Port Macquarie,” Mr Kellon said.
“The fantastic event continues to bring us together in celebration of local business and those that work so hard to sustain our community.”
Mr Kellon said the awards were changing this year which reflects the nature of online business.
“Entry into this year’s awards has never been easier, we are excited to announce a new web portal that provides instant access and guidance to entering all 13 excellence awards and 22 industry award categories,” he said.
“The easiest way to approach the awards is to remember there are 35 awards in total and the big difference in 2018 is the recipients of the majority of excellence awards will automatically be entered into the Regional Business Awards later in the year.”
