POLICE are searching for a person of interest after an alleged stabbing has left a Port Macquarie man in a critical condition.

The incident occurred at about 12.40pm on Friday, May 4 in a quiet cul-de-sac neighbourhood at Lighthouse Beach.
Emergency services were called to Beacon Court after being alerted to an incident where a 30-year-old man was suffering stab wounds to his chest.
Police from the Mid North Coast Police District and NSW Ambulance Paramedics raced to the scene.
The man was assessed by paramedics on site before being rushed to Port Macquarie Base Hospital with critical injuries.
Another man, alleged to have been involved in the incident, could not be found at the scene.
Police are searching for a 32-year-old man described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 190cm tall with a thin build, brown hair and brown eyes. He is likely to be unshaven and wearing dark clothing.
Police are appealing to the public for any information that may help them with their inquiries.
Police are also urging the public to call them immediately on Triple Zero (000) if they see the man and are warned not to approach him.
He was last seen on foot fleeing Beacon Court via Rushcutters Way.
Detective Chief Inspector Guy Flaherty directed a team of officers to establish a crime scene outside a home in Beacon Court and down a section of Rushcutter Way as shocked neighbours watched from their driveways.
Police on scene began collecting evidence from the street and commenced doorknocking to gather statements from potential witnesses.
“Police arrived to find a male with a stab wound to his body. He has been taken to hospital in a serious and critical condition,” Det Ch Insp Flaherty said.
“We are currently investigating closed off parts of Beacon Court in Port Macquarie.
“A number of items have been seized.”
Det Ch Insp confirmed it appears the parties involved in the incident are known to each other and the identity of the alleged offender is known to police. He would not confirm what sort of weapon was allegedly used in the attack, or the extent of the injuries to the victim.
