The Port Macquarie community are being encouraged to come down to Town Green in all their colourful fluro glory to take part in the fabulous event.
Organiser Steve Thomas said the fun run will be a spectacular way to ring in the weekend.
“Last year we have more than 800 participants come and take part in the colourful fun run and we hope that even more get involved in the action this year,” Mr Thomas said.
“This year we are doing things a little differently by having a kaleidoscope light display, zumba dancing, best and worst dressed competitions and live entertainment on the stage at Town Green from 4.30pm.
“The run at 5.30pm from Short Street.
“We are wanting everyone to make an afternoon and night out of the whole event and with so much going on why not come and enjoy all the festivities.”
The ‘run’ will start at Short Street with walkers making their way along the breakwall to the Town Beach reserve before coming back to Town Green to finish.
“We will be having activities and colour displays are stations along the track so we are encouraging people to deck themselves out in colour and spend as much time as they can going around the course,” he said.
"It is such a fun event and in the dark people wearing glow sticks and bright colours really stand out and make it that much better.
“And of course the music will be pumping so it will be a great night for the whole family.
“We will also be having best and worst dressed prizes for those who are dressing up, so we are encouraging the whole community to come and have some coloured fun.”
Mr Thomas also said that all the proceeds go back into the local community.
“The community groups that come and help out with the Bright Night Fun Run get the proceeds made on the night so it is a really fantastic community event.”
