He said they were so impressed by the passion of Mr Moorehead and his team, and as a result, they realised the club needed to help them.
“It’s such a valuable community service,” Mr Gilson said.
Rotary Club of Port Macquarie West international service director Joan Gilson said Endeavour Clubhouse was unique.
She said the clubhouse provided a safe place for people with mental illness where they could learn new skills.
The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie West expects to raise about $5000 through the Mother’s Day promotion.
Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse director Rob Moorehead said the community support the clubhouse received was amazing.
“What we’ve been able to do with Endeavour is be able to create an understanding in the community about the importance of the mental health recovery facility,” he said.
The Hamilton Green clubhouse has more than 300 registered members.
The clubhouse plans to put the money to be donated from the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie West towards improving facilities and equipment to address the needs of people living with mental illness.
“The big push is to get people out of that dark place, make new friends and build their self-esteem and confidence,” Mr Moorehead said.
