It included a piper and the presentation of a quaich or cup of friendship.
The occasion was part of a visit from Royal British Legion Scotland Wick, Canisbay and Latheron branch members, Royal British Legion Scotland national chairman Charlie Brown and their very own piper for the trip Rod Paton.
The delegation’s visit follows an invitation from George Wise from the Laurieton RSL Sub-branch.
Royal British Legion Scotland Wick Branch chairman Captain Richard Otley said the group was honoured to be hosted by the Laurieton RSL Sub-branch.
Captain Otley said the significance of the visit was threefold with future cultural links, mutual trade and tourism and youth support.
The Scottish communities raised $30,000 Australian dollars towards the trip.
Mayor Peta Pinson accepted the cup of friendship on behalf of the Port Macquarie-Hastings community.
“This is a very special gift which we will treasure,” she said.
Cr Pinson said it was so important to foster ties between ex-service organisations and it was wonderful to see these visits come to fruition.
Royal British Legion Scotland national chairman Charlie Brown said the visit was a wonderful experience.
“We thank the people of Laurieton and Port Macquarie for their welcome, and indeed every member of the Australian community we have met,” he said.
The Scottish contingent took part in the Laurieton Anzac Day commemorations.
