Over the past month council staff have been out in our towns and villages chatting with our community about their thoughts on council’s draft plans for the 2018/19 financial year.
These plans list council’s intended key projects, infrastructure upgrades and allocation of funding, including your rates over the coming 12 months.
Having attended some of the pop-up sessions myself, it was great to see local residents stop and provide feedback on what council should be focusing on.
More than 80 submissions were received during the exhibition period, with many providing feedback in person at one of the five pop-up sessions across the region.
A big thanks to everyone who submitted their thoughts on the draft plan, which incorporates your feedback which will be presented to Council in June for adoption and I look forward to working hard on your behalf over the coming year to deliver for our community.

IKew Information Centre turns 5
Last Friday, I was invited to celebrate with the locals and volunteers who run, and have helped with the ongoing refurbishment of, the iKew Information Centre at a special 5th birthday celebration.
If you haven’t been out for a visit lately, you definitely should. You’ll not only meet the enthusiastic volunteers, but also get lots of great information about all there is to do and see across our region.
The iKew exhibition room showcases a range of products from local artists, ideas of what to discover in our hinterland and beyond and, who could miss the huge axe that was brought back to its former glory by the skilled handymen from the Kendall Men’s Shed.
The local spirit and passionate volunteers who keep community facilities like the IKew Centre up and running day in, day out is truly incredible.
Thankyou to everyone involved. I’m sure the lucky travellers and locals who drop in will find exactly what they’re looking for.
