New operations manager, Adam Edkins, said that it is all about finding new ways to engage with the community and ultimately help the people who need it most.
“It is a really exciting time at the Family Store, we have undergone some renovations to make the store brighter and more welcoming to people in the community and I think it has really made a difference,” Mr Edkins said.
“From food stamps to food and clothes to whatever we can, we help over 3000 people in the area so it is really important our store is an inviting place.
“We are really on the hunt for people to donate items including clothes, books, toys, kitchen items and furniture.”
Mr Edkins said the facelift is not the only thing that is changing at the Family Store.
“We have also had a few new volunteers start with us, but we are always looking for more help, so if you would like to volunteer come in and see us,” he said.
“We are at a turning point at the store where we are getting a range of high quality stock coming in and we want to get the message out there that we are doing some exciting things and people should come in for a look.”
He said that it was with the money made in the store that funds the work the Salvation Army does in the community.
“We want people to come in and purchase some really great stuff so we can continue to go out into the local community and help those who need it most.
“Because as the dollar gets tighter we want to be able to help more and more people but we are needing the support of the community to do it.”
