Public speaking is a skill which has been a long term focus for the teachers and students at Hastings PS, placing a high amount of value on a very important life skill.
Students from years 3 to 6 prepared speeches and delivered them to their attentive classroom audiences.
From there, two students from each class were selected to speak at the Stage 2 and Stage 3 finals.
The speeches were of an extremely high standard across both competitions.
All judges commented on the quality of speaking and were impressed at the confidence with which young people were able to stand on a stage in front of hundreds of peers, teachers and family and present their work.
Winners and place getters were:
- Stage 2 - Avalon Enfield (Winner) and Harvey Cuckson (Runner Up).
- Stage 3 - Zake Morris (Winner) and Poppy McIntyre (Runner Up).
The school will host its multicultural public speaking competition mid-way through second term.
